Most people put on weight because they eat more and do nothing to burn their calories!
                           
But this is not always the case as some persons even after having hard workout and right diet are not able to lose their weight and the reason for this is their underlying health condition.
Yes your health and your heredity genes also matters a lot for your weight gain. If you have any medical problem its difficult to lose your weight but not impossible.

So here i will share medical reasons for excessive weight gain and some tips to cure it.

Medical Reasons

1. Underactive Thyroid
An underactive thyroid or hypothyroidism occurs when thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormones which play an important role in regulating your metabolism. This can occur at any age or in either sex but it is most common in older women.
                       So without enough thyroid hormone the body's metabolism slows down which can lead to weight gain.

  • Being sensitive to cold
  • Constipation
  • Depression
  • Muscle cramps
  • Dry and scaly skin

This condition is usually treated with daily hormone-replacement tablets known as levothyroxine but before taking this take a proper prescription from your doctor otherwise it doesn't has any side effects.

2. Diabetes Treatment
 Weight gain is common side effect for people who take insulin to manage their diabetes. Insulin     helps to control blood sugar level.Some people who have long lasting diabetes tend to eat more than they need to prevent low blood sugar also known as hypo.
                          So excessive snacking to prevent hypo contributes to an excessive calorie intake and overall weight gain.

       Symptoms
  • Feeling very thirsty
  • Feeling very tired
  • Cuts or wounds that heal slowly
  • Blurred vision
       Tips
Go for regular blood tests because if your blood sugar level is above the normal range risk of developing full blown diabetes is  increased.
                             So it is very important for diabetes to be diagnosed as early as possible because it will get progressively worse if left untreated.

3. Stress & Low Mood
People respond differently to stress, anxiety and depressed mood. Some people may lose weight, while others may gain weight. So people start eating more as a coping mechanism. It can lead to a vicious circle. Weight gain due to depression can make you more depressed which can further lead to weight gain.

This third reason that is stress was the main cause of weight gain for me so i will lay more stress on how to cure it as it is the common cause of weight gain for today's generation.

Its very important to spend some time with yourself in the whole day. If you feel stressed out just stay calm and analyse the reason for the stress and find its solution

  • Routine Chart
Its very important to have a routine chart where you should schedule your whole day and follow this chart so all the tasks are done on time then there will be no stress.
  • Meditation & Yoga
As earlier also i have discussed that at least half an hour mediation and one hour yoga a day is must for weight loss and also it helps in bursting your stress.
  • Connect more with people
The more you go out and connect with people more relaxed you will feel instead of just chatting or playing games or watching web series on Netflix go for some outer activities like cricket, bad minton or adventure trips etc.
  • Be positive and always have some hobby
To be positive is very important to reduce stress and always have some hobby like dancing, music, sports etc so that apart from your daily routine you have passion for something and doing it makes you happier.

4. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
PCOS is a common condition that affects how a woman's ovaries work. This problem is very common today and it is a big reason for excessive weight gain in woman.

The exact cause of PCOS is unknown but its thought to be hormone related including too much insulin and testosterone. Women with PCOS typically put on weight around their waist.The more weight you put on the more insulin you produce which can cause further weight gain.
       
      Symptoms
  • Irregular periods or no periods at all
  • Excessive hair growth - usually on face , chest and back
  • Weight gain
  • Oily skin or acne
  • Thinning hair
       Tips
Weight loss through dietary changes and exercise and in some cases medication such as orlistat will help to break the cycle.

5. Steroid Treatment
Steroids are used to treat a variety of conditions, including asthma and arthritis. Long term use of such tablets increase appetite in some people leading to weight gain. The higher the dose and the longer you are on steroids , the more weight you are likely to put on. This is because steroids make you feel hungry , affecting the areas in brain that control the feeling of hunger and satiety.
      Tips
So being extra careful about what you eat during your steroid course will prevent you from eating more than usual.

6. Tiredness
Some studies have shown that people who sleep less than seven hours a day are more likely to be overweight than those who get nine hours of sleep or more. As per studies sleep deprived people have reduced level of leptin, the chemical that makes you feel full and higher level of ghrelin , the hunger stimulating hormone.
If someone is always feeling tired than he/she is more likely to reach for high calorie snacks to keep their energy levels up throughout the day and do less physical activity which means they burn fewer calories.
    
      Tips to beat Insomnia
  • Keep regular sleep hours
  • Create a restful sleeping environment
  • Make sure your bed is comfortable
  • Exercise regularly
  • Cut down on caffeine
  • Write away your worries

So here i will share some easy but effective ways to stay fit and healthy and they will also helps in weight loss.

  • Wake up early in the morning
To stay fit and healthy it is very important to wake up early in the morning probably between 5-6 am. By waking up early you will feel fresh for whole day and it will also reduce your stress and tension as you have more time to do your daily tasks in planned manner.

  FOR PHYSICAL FITNESS MENTAL FITNESS IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT!


  • Do yoga and simple exercise 
After waking up in morning do yoga like some asanas like bhujangasans , dhanurasansa etc. In my next article i will discuss all the asanas to be done daily, their benefits and correct way of doing them. Do yoga for at least half hour in beginning and then gradually make it one hour. Dont just think of doing it on alternate days or missing it on Sundays as we eat food on all 7 days similarly to do yoga everyday is also must. Easy exercise for reducing belly fat and make your body physically strong can also be accompanied with yoga like squads,plank etc. I will share list of these exercise and their duration in my next article along with yoga asanas.


  • Eat you food on time
If you want to be fit and live a healthy life it is very important to take your meals on time. Do your breakfast as early as possible as there is huge gap between breakfast and dinner and more the gaps more you will eat which will make you over eat so make sure that you shouldn't have huge gaps in your meals. Ideal time for taking your meals
Breakfast : 8-9 am
lunch       : 12-1 pm
Dinner    :  8-9 pm

NOTE : Avoid junk food , sweets , sugar in milk/tea, fried , maida , packed and frozen food.
               In beginning you can eat junk twice a month but gradually come to once in a month

  • Daily Walk
Walking daily for at least half an hour is very important . It can be in early morning or in evening or after lunch . Anytime according to your comfort but don't miss it. Make it a part of your routine.
                
Be aware of calories intake
Keep a check on how many calories you take in a day. I am not saying always keep on counting it but just keep a check so that you can control the unnecessary calories. Ideal calories intake per day for   
  
  Women                                        2000 
   Men                                            2500

  • Ideal glass of water per day                             8-9 glass (lukewarm water)
NOTE: Avoid such chilled water in any case

Right posture to sit

Posture matters a lot to be fit and active. Here is an image showing right and wrong posture to sit. It is very important to sit straight in order to reduce belly fat and keep your spinal code fit .


  • Avoid sitting activities unless your job demands and instead of lift go by stairs and for short distance prefer walking only


NO STRESS ALWAYS STAY HAPPY


Yes it's true to be fit physically firstly you have to be mentally fit. Always keep smiling and be happy and don't take stress. According to a research person who is happy reduces weight faster as compared to sad person.

Yes daily half an hour of meditation in morning or in evening whenever its comfortable for you is also very important. In beginning you may not be able to concentrate but gradually when you will do it regularly you will start enjoying it and also your body and mind will become stable.
